Search two centuries of Gulf history in the Arabian Gulf Digital Archive
Explore historic documents and photographs in a free official archive. Illustrative camera photo at Zayed National Museum, 2026: Mnczubair, CC0, Wikimedia Commons.
The Arabian Gulf Digital Archive is a useful next step when a UAE place name or historical reference makes you curious. Created through a UAE-UK archives partnership, it brings historical documents and photographs from the Gulf region online. The UAE National Library and Archives describes it as a free resource for the public as well as researchers. Start with a place or subject, then narrow your search by date or document reference. English and Arabic versions are available. Read the original record alongside its catalogue information, and keep the document reference if you want to return to it later.
